Geoffrey Pointon, Chairman,
founded Dealmakers 5 years ago. (PYV Group's founding
Chairman and CEO.)
As a recognised authority within the UK’s insurance
and pension industries, over the last forty years, Geoffrey
has built a reputation for consistently challenging the
status quo and innovating successful financial products.
On leaving national service in 1957,Geoffrey
began his career in London with Equity & Law. In
1964 he joined Stenhouse International Insurance Brokers
where he became Marketing Director of the Midlands region.
In 1971 Geoffrey founded Pointon York
Limited, which developed subsidiaries that have provided
a wide range of financial services such as stock broking,
fund management, commercial insurance broking, employee
benefits and independent financial advice.
In the 1970s Geoffrey actively promoted
higher standards throughout the Financial Services industry.
He helped form the British Insurance Brokers Association
(BIBA) and contributed to the Insurance Brokers Registration
Act and its subsequent regulator the Insurance Brokers
Registration Council (IBRC). Later, Geoffrey became
deputy Chairman of the Association of Licensed Dealers
(ALDS), the National Association of Security Dealers
and Investment Managers (NASDIM) and the Financial Investment
Managers and Brokers Regulatory Association (FIMBRA)
from which he retired in 1986.
Following his innovative approach
to Directors Pension Schemes, known as SSAS, Geoffrey
became the founding Chairman of the Association of Pensioner
Trustees (APT), the Trade Body for Self Administered
Pension Schemes (SAS).
In 1985 Geoffrey's Group acquired
Philip Vos & Partners, a Lloyds Broker. This business,
now known as PYV Limited, has been developed in to a
leading provider of professional indemnity insurance
to IFA, Solicitors and other professions.
In 1990 Pointon York became the first
provider to issue a Self Invested Personal Pension (SIPP)
which have become the UK's first choice for individual
and property SIPPs.
Geoffrey who owns the Quality Chophouse,
a distinguished London restaurant, is personal adviser
and mentor to many important clients including several
well known celebrities and of course founder of the
successful Dealmakers Club based in London.
Geoffrey is a freeman and former
member of the Court of Commom Council of the City of
London.
